Post Bankruptcy Debtor Education

The Bankruptcy Code requires you complete an approved financial education course, also known as a post bankruptcy debtor education, or post bankruptcy credit counseling with an approved agency before your debts can be discharged. American Consumer Credit Counseling is approved* by the US Trustees of the Department of Justice to offer post bankruptcy credit counseling. We are pleased to offer our financial program, "Money In Motion," which can be completed online or in a classroom setting.

"Money In Motion" addresses various financial literacy issues and will give you the tools needed to prevent future financial problems. Key topics include:

  • Rebuilding finances after bankruptcy
  • Developing and following a budget
  • Understanding and using credit
  • "Predatory lending"
  • Identity Theft

Enjoy a classroom setting, or set your own pace with our online course. Counselors will help you review the material and answer all your questions. Upon completion of the course as well as a short test, you will be provided with the Certificate needed to have your debts discharged.

  • Approximate course length: 2 hours
  • Bankruptcy Course locations: In-person classes offered in Auburndale, MA only, On-line course offered in all states except Oregon. If you are interested in attending one of our in-person classes please contact us at 1-866-826-6924 for upcoming classes and  required information.
  • Certificate of completion: You will be given a certificate verifying completion of the course, and will have to file that certificate with the Bankruptcy Court in order to have your debts discharged. ACCC is approved by the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees (EOUST) to issue this required certificate in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code*.
  • Program cost, including certificate $39 for an individual filer or $59 for filing jointly using our online services or $49 for an individual filer or $69 for filing jointly using our home study version of the course. (Please note,  if filing jointly, each filer will receive a separate completion certification and will be required to complete the course, be it online or in a classroom setting, as an individual.)  Payment may be made by money order, cashier's check, or by the online process if an online course is selected with a debit card featuring the MasterCard® or Visa® logo. Fee may be waived in certain hardship cases.  Fee waiver guidelines and application are found in the ACCC disclosure statement below.

Post-Bankruptcy Instructions

As part of the bankruptcy requirements, you are required to complete a post-bankruptcy financial education course. In order to complete this course, please follow the instructions below. If you have any questions, you may contact us at

  1. Confirm the Judicial district that you filed your bankruptcy in with your attorney.
  2. Have your attorney contact information: Name, Address, Telephone and Fax numbers and email
  3. Information required for the session: Bankruptcy Case Number
  1. Online Completions
If you took a pre-filing course with us, you must still register for the post-filing course.
  • Read Disclosure, complete registration for course and submit payment when done hit submit.
  • Proceed through course
  • When done with course after completing the 30 question post test and survey your certificate will be automatically sent to you within 1 business day. (if certificate is needed sooner please contact the office during normal business hours Mon-Fri: 9am-8pm EST.)
