Pre-Purchase Home Buyer Counseling
The first step in buying a home is doing research but the second step, assessing affordability, may be the most important part of homeownership. ACCC’s housing counselors can help you decide whether or not you can afford a home and if you can, how much you may be able to borrow. Counselors can also help you decide whether you should buy a home now or if it would be better to financially prepare to buy and own in the future. We will discuss budgeting and a spending plan, savings, savings plans, credit history, and refer you to more information which will explain the home purchasing process or enroll you for pre-purchase home buyer counseling or workshops.
If you are interested in buying a home now or in the future, ACCC can help you through the process. Your initial counseling session will cover topics such as budgeting for mortgage payments, money management and referrals to community services.
ACCC’s housing counselors will educate you on everyone involved with the home buying process and what roles they play. We will also review what lenders will require from you, what loans you may qualify for, how much you may be approved for, how your credit history may impact your loan terms, and how to avoid predatory lending practices.
